Margaret Tait (1918-1999) shook her male peers for a disconcerting approach to filming seemingly traditionalist subject matters, in which a heartfelt appreciation for the domestic could very well co-exist alongside experimental film politics. The garden often playing a main role in her films and writings, it’s surprising that none of them ever suspected her to be one of the Society’s most active members.
