Hope, Decay, Persist

Take a seed,
A living plant,
& a fallen leaf.

Say a true thing.

If it brings you hope,
Scrape aside a little soil,
Making a hole for the seed.

If it brings you fear & regret,
Tear the leaf acrossways,
So you’ve one more piece than before.

If it is simply true,
Place your hand on the plant
To say “and we persist.”

It heads when the seed is planted,
The leaf dust,
The plant persists.
